PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To precisely evaluate a reproducing analog signal even when the recording density of a digital signal of a recording medium is improved. SOLUTION: The signal, recorded on an optical disk DK and analog reproduced, is A/D converted by an A/D converter 15 and stored in an external storage circuit 17. A computer 20 converts the digital data stored in the external storage circuit 17 into digital data synchronized with the clock timing of the signal recorded on the optical disk DK and loads it into an internal RAM 20a. The computer 20 performs a PR equalization process of the digital data loaded into the internal RAM 20a and performs the binarization by Viterbi decoding, after performing the frequency distribution correction. The digital data stored in the external storage circuit 17 is classified for each pulse width using the binary signal, and the reproducing analog signal is evaluated using the classified digital data.
