PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a "disk drive" which can certainly switch movement of a head and power transmission to a conveyance roller with a single thread motor. SOLUTION: When a pinion gearwheel 41 is driven by power of a thread motor M and a rack member 36 is moved to an inner periphery direction (Si), a limit switch SW1 is turned on. Further, transmission member 68 is turned to counterclockwise by a transmission convex 36c prepared in a rack member 36, and a switching member 65 is made to turn to clockwise. When a planetary gearwheel 63 prepared on this switching member 65 does not engage with a relay member 72 well, the thread motor M is reversed, an optical head 31 is moved in the outer periphery direction, the rack member 36 and the pinion gearwheel 41 are made to turn over, then the rack member 36 is moved to inner periphery direction to surely carry out the mode switching.
