PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermosetting composition easily producible on an industrial scale at a relatively low cost and having excellent biodegradability and provide a biodegradable plastic obtained by curing the composition. SOLUTION: The thermosetting composition contains an epoxide expressed by general formula (1) ((C<SB>3</SB>H<SB>4</SB>O<SB>2</SB>) is lactic acid residue; X is a residue of a compound having a cyclic ether terminal; and n is an integer of 1-10) and an acid anhydride. More concretely, the epoxide is an epoxide mixture composed of two or more epoxides having different n values (n is 1-10). A biodegradable plastic is produced by curing the thermosetting composition.
