PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent body having no settling and superior liquid permeability. SOLUTION: This absorbent body is provided with a rattan area composed of a fiber assembly composed of rattan, and a thickness retention area composed of an absorbent material other than the rattan and having a compression workload in or after pressurization smaller than that of the rattan area. The absorbent body, in the thickness retention area, is formed of a material containing at least one of pulp fibers, a porous foam material, cotton fibers and nonwoven fabric.
