The method involves transmitting impulses (Ia,Ib,Ic) from an object (1) in two of measuring channels, reflecting at another object (2), and receiving from the object (1). A length (L) of the object (1) is determined relative to the object (2) based on the measured values of the received impulses of all the channels. A sum of all amplitude values of the received impulse is determined with each channel as measured value. Independent claims are also included for the following: (A) an object e.g. vehicle, orientation determining device; and (B) an application of the object e.g. vehicle, orientation determining method.
