PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a distributed resource management system that can improve a response performance of processing a request for resource borrowing by reducing the traffic between servers. SOLUTION: A general server 2 and a control server 1 are connected through a network 3. A resource group is formed by one set of the control server 1 and multiple sets of general servers 2. The control server 1 controls the remaining amount of memory of the multiple sets of general servers 2 in the group, determines whether an assignment is possible based on its remaining amount of memory when there is a request from the general servers 2 in the group for memory resource borrowing, and, when the assignment is not possible, determines whether the assignment is possible based on the remaining amount of memory of the general servers in the group.
