PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an illuminating apparatus or the like capable of efficiently and satisfactorily illuminating liquid crystal light valves with illumination light emitted from an LED array without making a light source apparatus large in size. SOLUTION: The projector 10 is individually provided with three primary colors illuminating apparatuses 21, 23 and 25 so as to individually illuminate the liquid crystal light valves 31, 33 and 35; then an image of high luminance can be projected by the effective utilization of the color illuminating apparatuses 21, 23 and 25. Also, in the projector 10, 2nd illumination light LG can be obtained, by guiding light source light SG1 of 1st green wavelength emitted from a 1st light source unit 23a and light source light SG2 of 2nd green wavelength emitted from a 2nd light source unit 24a by an optical coupling member 41 to the same optical path; and then the green liquid crystal light valve 33 can be illuminated efficiently.
