An office chair has a backrest with a tubular frame of roughly square shape. The void in the backrest is filled by a knitted textile slip-on sleeve with strengthened edges in contact with the frame. The slip-on sleeve edges are strengthened by an additional knitted layer or two. The slip-on sleeve is anchored by a tab with e.g. popper fixtures.
