<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a COT type liquid crystal display device which prevents light from leaking outside a pixel region by further forming a black matrix in the outside of the pixel region in a step of forming a black matrix on an array substrate, and to provide a method for fabricating the display device. <P>SOLUTION: The COT (Color filter on thin film transistor) structure liquid crystal display device includes: a pixel region where unit pixels defined by gate lines and data lines intersecting with and perpendicular to the gate lines are arranged in a matrix; a pad region coupled to the gate line and the data line and formed in the outside of the pixel region; a seal pattern formed between the pad region and the pixel region; an outside region of the pixel region, the outside region formed between the seal pattern and the pixel region and having a first black matrix; and a first substrate having an electrostatic discharge free circuit formed between the pad region and the pixel region. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
