PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel continuous conductive heat transfer dryer for preventing the discharge of treated objects as undried when handling the treated objects such as sludge having high moisture, and to provide its operating method. SOLUTION: In a slot 102 of a body shell 10, a discharger is provided for intermittently discharging dried products. Even when sludge or the like is deposited on a tubular heating pipe 11 and then dried and peeled off to suddenly increase holdup (residence) near the slot 102, the discharge of the treated objects H as undried is prevented by putting the discharger into a non-discharging condition.
