PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pigment for cosmetics, having high water repellency, moist but unheavy feeling, good adhesion to the skin and excellent extendability when compounded in cosmetics, and to provide cosmetics containing the pigment for cosmetics. SOLUTION: The pigment for cosmetics is prepared by covering the surface of the pigment with a compound represented by general formula (1): CH<SB>3</SB>-(CH<SB>2</SB>)<SB>15</SB>-Si(OC<SB>n</SB>H<SB>2n+1</SB>)<SB>3</SB>(1) (wherein, n is 1 or 2) by chemical bonding of silane reaction.
