<p>Biotechnological preparation of functionalized di- and tri-carboxylic acid (I) comprises culturing a micro organism (A) (capable of cleaving monocarbonic acid alkyl ester and for beta -oxidation of the mono carbonic acid (fatty acid) (formed by the cleaving) under aerobic submerse condition in a culture medium comprising optionally saturated, unbranched 8-22C monocarbonic acid as assimilated main carbon source.</p>
