HEAT-STABLE COLORANT COMPOSITIONS FOR POLYMERS

A heat-stable pigment dispersion for use in providing uniform and reproducible colors in polymers and polymer compositions subjected to high-temperature processing at temperatures in the range of 200° to 800°F during processes such as extrusion, calendaring and molding, consists of one or more heat-stable pigments, a solvent that evaporates during the high-temperature processing, one or more surfactants and an anti-settling agent. The physical properties and performance characteristics of the finished products show no adverse effects from the addition of the pigment dispersion, and polymers containing the pigment dispersion can be processed in the same manner as polymer compositions containing none of the pigment dispersion.
