<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high pressure fuel pump capable of adjusting fuel discharge for fuel pressure control without using valve closing control of a solenoid spill valve. <P>SOLUTION: Overflow of fuel from a pump room in a force feeding stroke is prohibited by a check valve in the high pressure fuel pump. Additionally, a cam 12 used for reciprocation of a plunger is mounted on a camshaft 11 free to relatively rotate and a torque transmission mechanism 21 to connect the cam 12 and the camshaft 11 to each other in a state free to slip so that constant torque from the camshaft 11 works on the cam 12 in a force feeding stroke is provided in the high pressure fuel pump. Consequently, fuel discharge from the high pressure fuel pump is carried out through rotation of the cam 12 and the fuel pressure is held at a value in correspondence with a size of the constant torque only when pressure (same as the fuel pressure) of fuel in the pump room becomes less than the value in correspondence with the size of the constant torque (target fuel pressure) in the force feeding stroke. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
