PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubbing device capable of polishing extraneous matter on the surface of a photoreceptor drum without increasing the consumption of toner, and to provide a rubbing device having a simple structure, suppressing variations in load on a photoreceptor drum by pressure contact of the rubbing device, and being capable of suppressing image degradation. SOLUTION: A core bar 20a of a rubbing roller 20 is constituted of a member-generating a magnetic field. By a magnetic field generated from the core bar 20a, toners are attracted to a surface of the rubbing roller 20 and a surface of a photoreceptor drum 2 is polished and rubbed by an elastic rubbing member 20b formed around a shaft with these toners as abrasive powder, whereby extraneous matter sticking to the surface of the photoreceptor drum 2 can be cleaned up. The shape of the core bar 20a is determined so that the diameter of a central part 201 in the longitudinal direction of the shaft is made larger than the diameter of both ends 201a, 201b; accordingly polishing power to the surface of the photoreceptor drum 2 in the central part 201 and both ends 201a, 201b can be made uniform.
