PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an anion adsorption carbonaceous material excellent in anion adsorbability which is inexpensive and environment friendly, and to provide a manufacturing method thereof.

SOLUTION: The anion adsorption carbonaceous material is prepared by contacting a raw material 2 consisting of a plant with a solution 3 containing a metal chloride followed by carbonization and including the metal compound into the carbonized material.
