PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector capable of performing a focus adjustment based on a focal point adjustment test pattern, by projecting the test pattern onto the center of a projection body, such as a screen. SOLUTION: Based on the relative positional relation between a projection image on an image (camera coordinate system) photographed by a camera section 3 and an image on the screen S, a detection section 11 analyzes image, in order to obtain the panel coordinate system position of a projection device 8 which corresponds to the center of an image on the screen S, which image has been photographed by the camera section 3. Then, while making the center of the focus adjustment test pattern coincide with the obtained panel coordinate system position, a system control section 10 displays the focus adjusting test pattern.
