PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a crystal, by which the crystal having excellent optical characteristics such as internal transmittance can be manufactured with satisfactory reproducibility. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the crystal from a crystalline substance is characterized by including a step for detecting the concentrations of impurities contained in a seed crystal being a base point for growing a single crystal, a step for receiving the seed crystal in which the concentrations of the impurities, detected in the detection step, are lower than those of the impurities contained in a raw material in a crucible, and a step for growing the single crystal through the seed crystal received in the crucible in the receiving step.
