A subject-matter of the present invention is a photoprotective composition comprising, in a physiologically acceptable medium: a) at least one aqueous phase, b) at least hydrophilic metal oxide nanoparticles, c) at least one vinylpyrrolidone homopolymer. Another subject-matter of the present invention is the use of at least one vinylpyrrolidone hompolymer in a photoprotective composition comprising at least one aqueous phase and at least hydrophilic metal oxide nanoparticles for the purpose of reducing the whitening and/or of improving the stability of the said composition.(dispersibility of the nanoparticles in the aqueous phase).
