The plasma display panel disclosed has front substrate (2) and rear substrate (10) positioned to face each other. Front substrate (2) includes display electrodes (6) provided with scan electrodes (4) and sustain electrodes (5), and light-shield (7) provided on a non-discharge area between display electrodes (6). Rear substrate (10) includes phosphor layers (15R), (15G) and (15B) to emit light by discharge. Display electrode (6) is composed of transparent electrodes (4a) and (5a), and bus electrodes (4b) and (5b). Bus electrodes (4b) and (5b) are composed of a plurality of electrode layers and at least one of the electrodes is composed of a black layer having a product of the resistivity and layer thickness of not larger than 2 �cm 2 . Light-shield (7) is composed of a black layer with the resistivity of not smaller than 1 � 10 6 �cm.
