The process involves catching surplus coating central remainders with an application procedure. The caught coating central remainders are laid on within a film of varnish (22) on a workpiece (19). The film of varnish (22) is formed over the entire layer thickness partly from the caught coating central remainders. The film of varnish formed from the coating central remainders is a filler layer or a priming layer (21). The caught coating central remainders contain different coatings, before the merging of the filler layer to a coating central mixture. The caught coating has different colors. An independent claim is included for an apparatus, and a varnish layer.
