<p>The object or microscopic specimen is scanned by a moving spot of laser light. The X-Y dimensions (Flache) of the object plane are recorded, also the Z-axis or depth (Tiefe) to make a three-dimensional picture. Movement of the specimen is recorded, with the T-axis or time (Zeit) being recorded as the fourth dimension. Discontinuous data strips (Discontinuierliche ----) are recorded on three sides of a cube. The data processing procedure involves a recording step, interpolation between points, data compression and final storage of data on surfaces of cube.</p> |
