Recess cutting template

A recess cutting template for fitting a hinge to a door comprises an upper plate 2 and a lower plate 4, the upper plate 2 carrying two side arms 3 which support the lower plate 4 such that the lower plate lies in a plane which is displaced from that of the upper plate 2. This provides a guide tool which can be used for supporting a chisel edge when cutting out a recess for fitting a hinge to a door edge and door frame. The template may be adjustable to fit different hinge sizes. There is therefore no need for cutting lines to be marked out by hand and the tool can speed up the operation of cutting out the required recesses.
