A (meth)acrylic resin emulsion which contains a vinyl alcohol polymer having a degree of saponification of 80 to 95 mol% and a degree of polymerization of 400 to 2,000 as a dispersant and a polymer comprising at least one kind of units selected among acrylic ester monomer units and methacrylic ester monomer units as a dispersoid, wherein the value of [measure a], which indicates the width of emulsion-particle diameter distribution, is 0.3 or larger and a 500 mum-thick film formed from the emulsion at 20°C has a tensile strength of 100 kg/cm2 or higher. The (meth)acrylic resin emulsion is excellent in all of film strength, film transparency, and mechanical stability and further has excellent alkali resistance.
