The invention relates to an annular, cylindrical housing comprising an annular groove (4) for receiving a torsion spring (8). Said housing is especially used in a switch or in a potentiometer, and consists of an outer groove wall (2) comprising a recess (7) for receiving the upper limb (9), and an inner groove wall (3). According to the invention, the housing (1) is provided with an axially oblique, downwardly extending recess (5) for receiving the lower limb (10) of the torsion spring (8) in such a way that, once the lower limb (10) of the torsion spring (8) has been inserted into the axially oblique, downwardly extending recess (5), it can be both radially and axially stretched by the pre-tensioning of the upper limb (9).
