Method for compressing 3D image data

A camera or frame grabber receives raw data from the scan and records it. The data is then passed to an interpolation system, which may fill in the gaps between the lines of the scan using a RAM or a graphic board. The interpolated or smoothed data is then passed to a compression step where unwanted data is removed scan using a CPU or a graphic board. A final permanent recording is made of the compressed data. Data is recorded on cubes using bar codes on a first surface for picture area (X/Y (Flache)), a second surface for picture depth (Z (Tiefe)) and time (T (Zeit)). Data may be read from a first cube to a second cube (Wiedergabe).
