PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a female side terminal fitting capable of lessening loss of a material. SOLUTION: The female side terminal fitting 1 is structured by being provided with a square cylinder part 7 as well as a barrel part 9 at the rear. Furthermore, a leaf spring 11 as an elastic contact member is incorporated in the square cylinder part 7. The square cylinder 7 is provided with a bottom wall 17, a pair of side walls 19, and a top wall 21, and at nearly the center part of the top plate 21, an opening part 23 opening over a whole length of the square cylinder part 7 is provided in a front and back direction (length direction) of the female side terminal fitting 1.
