PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position correction device for the machining program of a machine tool capable of increasing the accuracy of correcting the positioning of a tool and the accuracy of machining workpieces. SOLUTION: A laser projector 24 mounted on a main spindle unit is moved to X-, Y-, and Z-axis measurement reference positions PX, PY, PZ in sequence and laser beams are applied from the laser projector 24 toward a light-blocking plate 30 and a photoreceiver 29. The amounts of light received are measured with the photoreceiver 29 and stored in a storage means as the initial amounts of light received along X-, Y- and Z-axis. After machining of a workpiece has finished, the actual amounts of light received along the X-, Y- and Z-axis are measured again. Differences in the amount of received light between the measured amounts of light received along the X-, Y- and Z-axis and the initial amounts of light received along the X-, Y- and Z-axis are computed so as to compute correction values for the machining program.
