A slim-line luminous sign (1) having an outer box (2) without one of its lateral walls; a transparent sheet (3) fixed to the box (2) to define the missing lateral wall of the box; at least one fluorescent gas discharge lamp (8) fixed to the back of the box (2) and lying on its side, adjacent to the inner face (3b) of the transparent sheet (3); an opaque cover member (9) interposed between the fluorescent gas discharge lamp (8) and the surface of the inner face (3b) of the transparent sheet (3); and a light diverting body (10) spanning a lateral edge of the transparent sheet (3) and the fluorescent gas discharge lamp (8) so as to convey the light produced by the lamp to the lateral edge of the transparent sheet (3). |
