The unit has several discoidal shaped parts (8) which are cut from a fiber mat and whose upper and lower sides form a contact section, where the parts are congruently joined along the longitudinal axis. The parts are connected or glued using an adhesive for the formation of a bowl or half shells (6, 7). The area of the parts attached to a structural unit (1) corresponds to the surface contour of the structural unit. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a unit for thermal insulation of a structural unit in a building.
