Method and Apparatus for Manufacturing an Ear Device Shell

Method for preparing plastic mouldings for fitting to the ear comprises: (a) taking a moulding appropriate to the intended use; (b) forming a plastic article corresponding to this; (c) forming a set of data corresponding to the shape of the moulding by digitizing; and (d) finely adjusting the shape of the plastic article using a second fabrication process controlled by this data. Independent claims are included for: (a) the use of the above process to produce a hearing aid which fits into the ear or outside it, a hearing aid which fits over the head, or a component for protecting against noise or water; and (b) a plastic moulding for fitting to the ear whose skin is made up of layers of thermoplastic.
