<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem wherein the heat of component parts of an actuator needs to be dissipated, for these are covered by a protective housing, in a severer environment where the actuator is operated. <P>SOLUTION: The actuator 10 for an active suspension system has an armature 16 and the housing 18 for covering the inside. The inside of the housing 18 has a volume, which changes in response to the movement of the armature 16.
