PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform an excellent color gamut compression in consideration of lightness gradation. SOLUTION: An image processing method has a corresponding data acquiring process for acquiring data indicating a correspondence between lightness of the color gamut of an input color and lightness of the color gamut of an output color, a compression direction calculating process for calculating a compression direction based on the input color data, a compression condition setting process for setting a compression condition based on the corresponding data of the lightness acquired and the input data acquired, and a color gamut compressing process for performing a color gamut compression to the input color data.
