PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medical implant having closed-loop transcutaneous energy transmission (TET) type power transmission adjusting circuit. SOLUTION: A medical device to be implanted such as a fixed bidirectional infuser device for controlling a fixed artificial sphincter (e.g. adjustable gastric band) by hydraulic pressure is remote-controlled to be powered by transcutaneous energy transfer (TET) to thereby eliminate the neccesity of a battery, so that the device receives the benefit of the TET. In this type of medical device, various active parts are operated so that a sinusoidal power signal received by a fixed secondary coil is rectified and filtered. Thus, a fixed quantity of power transmitted is modulated. In an example of a mode, in order to achieve the voltage regulation by controlling the pulse duration modulation (PWM) of the received sinusoidal power signal, the comparison is performed concerning the voltage of the power supply voltage obtained as result on the basis of a fixed threshold. Further, some modes include detuning or uncoupling of the secondary coil to achieve the control the above PWM control without excessive heat of the medical device. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
