PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct irregularities of an average density among a plurality of prints during continuous printing, by a higher precision. SOLUTION: A thermal head 22 consists of a head substrate 41 where a heating element array and a driving circuit for driving the heating element array are set, and a head cover 42 which covers the driving circuit. A substrate temperature sensor 31 and a cover temperature sensor 32 are set at the head substrate 41 and the head cover 42, respectively to measure respective temperatures. The head cover 42 is a part which comes in contact with a recording paper 11, and therefore its temperature greatly influences the average density of the prints. A head control part 24 corrects a printing energy on the basis of each temperature data, thereby controlling the thermal head 22. Accordingly, the irregularities of the average density among the plurality of prints are corrected by the higher precision. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
