PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a machine tool, disassembling and assembling a spindle cartridge or a spindle sub-cartridge in a short time and having high rigidity. SOLUTION: This machine tool 10 includes the spindle cartridge 23 composed of: a rotatable rotating shaft 11; a front bearing 12 in which the front end of the rotating shaft 11 is internally fitted to an inner ring; a front housing 15 to which an outer ring 14 of the front bearing 12 is internally fitted; a rotor 17 of a built-in motor 16; a stator 18 of a built-in motor 16; a rear bearing 19 in which the rear end of the rotating shaft 11 is internally fitted to an inner ring 20; and an outer cylinder 22 internally fitted to the spindle head 21. The spindle cartridge 23 is inserted in a spindle cartridge holding part 24 provided in the axial direction of the spindle head 21, and the spindle cartridge 23 is inserted in the spindle head 21, whereby the travel of the rotating shaft 11 in the feed shaft direction parallel to the axial direction is set larger than a required length, so that the spindle cartridge 23 can be integrally disassembled and assembled to the spindle head 21 in a short time.
