PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gripping device which grips a workpiece between a movable-side grip section and fixed-side grip sections, wherein the movable-side grip sections are always stably guided while being exposed to little vibration, and wherein the movable-side grip section can maintain its gripping position even if a moving device thereof undergoes a failure. SOLUTION: The gripping device is formed of a movable body 10 movable in a first direction A, the moving device 15, the fixed-side grip sections 21, 22 bearing the workpiece 50 while facing a second direction B orthogonal to the first direction, an arm member 30 rockable in a rocking direction about an axial center 36 along a third direction C orthogonal to the first and second directions, and a guide member 40 for guiding a guided member 37 arranged on the arm member and therefore guiding the arm member in the rocking direction and the second direction. Herein the arm member has the movable-side grip section 26 which is opposed to the fixed-side grip sections when the arm member is located in parallel with the second direction, and a cam follower 38 guided by a cam section 12 formed on the moving body.
