The water ski or board, for water sports, has a floating body (10) of glass fiber or a hard foam and fittings for one or more shoes and/or feet of the user and/or for a drive mounting. The body is flat, with one or more displacement grooves (20-22) on the under surface (15) in contact with the water, and a center keel (18). The displacement grooves are aligned at an angle to the longitudinal axis and/or the drive has a paddle wheel ranging into the water under the board. The drive can be pedals or a motor. The leading end has a tapered zone (14) ending in a flat point (13), and the trailing end (12) is square cut.
