Cluster-free surface structured needled felt production, e.g. for use in floor coverings, by forming structuring elements extending directly onto moving felt material before needling

In a method for producing a needled felt with a surface structure by preparing a felt material then needling the material, structuring elements (A) are applied before the needling stage, such that after their formation (A) extend directly onto the moving felt material. Independent claims are included for: (A) variants on the process, in which (i) after their formation (A) reach without mixing together onto the moving felt material or (ii) the formation and application of (A) take place simultaneously; (B) needled felts obtained by the processes; (C) needled felts having at least one layer into which (A) are needled, such that (A) remain separate and free of cluster formation, the distribution of (A) in the plane of the ; and (D) a machine for applying (A) to a felt material, having a device for forming (A) extending onto the surface of the moving felt material.
