PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a non-linear optical material which has large non-linear optical effect and has a wide usable wavelength range, an optical switch including the same and a manufacturing method thereof, an optical distributor, and an optical modulator. SOLUTION: Disclosed is the non-linear optical material obtained by dissolving a compound shown by a general formula (1) (where at least one of A1and A2represents a heterocycle and A1and A2may be the same or different) in a solvent and applying the obtained solution over a solid substrate.
