摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique that enables the production of a rare-earth magnet with high magnetic properties for use in a lens driving device for light pick up, or the like, at a lower cost. SOLUTION: The rare-earth magnet is configured to have a mass of 1 gram or less. The rare-earth magnet configured to have such a mass softens an impulsive force that occurs between works in a barrel plating process or an ion plating process where a protective film is formed on the surface of the rare-earth magnet. The impulsive force is so softened that the occurrence of chips on the works is sufficiently inhibited. Thus, the rare-earth magnet that is configured to have a mass of 1g or less eliminates the necessity to apply chamfering to the works in advance of forming a corrosion-resistant coating on the surface thereof. Moreover, the radius of curvature (R value or C value) of the rare-earth magnet is configured to be 0.1 mm or less. Such a rare-earth magnet magnetized and incorporated into a magnetic circuit can be used for various applications, and a particularly preferable effect is obtained when it is employed for the lens driving device for light pick up.
