PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a non-destructive evaluation method capable of evaluating a relative density distribution in an evaluating object, and capable of a state of a tissue constituted of a spatial part and a nonspatial part of a porous material provided with a large number of consecutive open spaces. SOLUTION: This evaluation method forms an image of the relative density distribution in the evaluated object, by ultrasonic flaw detection, to evaluate the evaluated object. In the method, the evaluated object is irradiated with an ultrasonic wave, a reflected ultrasonic wave is detected to find a sonic velocity V propagated in an inside of the evaluated object, pursuant to Expression (1) V=T/(t2-t1), where T represents an evaluated object thickness, t1 represents a time when the evaluated object is irradiated with an ultrasonic wave, and t2 represents a time when the ultrasonic wave is reflected from the evaluated object, and the obtained sonic velocity is formed into an image.
