PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To acquire a high calculation accuracy of a star position regardless of the magnitude of the star, in a fixed star sensor loaded on a flying object such as an artificial satellite, for detecting the position of a fixed star. SOLUTION: A CCD 1 photographs a star and converts its optical signal into an electric signal. A gain controller 4 amplifies corresponding to magnitude information of the star so that the level of an image signal extracted from the electric signal becomes constant relative to every star. A star position calculation circuit 8 determines the star position based on the image signal. A star detection/determination circuit 9 performs tracking based on the star position calculated by the star position calculation circuit, detects and determines a star used for attitude control of the flying object, detects the magnitude of the determined star from catalog data, and outputs the magnitude information to the gain controller. A star identification circuit 10 outputs position information of the star determined by the star detection/determination circuit to an attitude determination system of the flying object.
