PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating composition for protection, which can be used for a coating composition of a photocolor developing or photo-recording coating film and can improve both the light sensitivity and light resistance to ultra-violet rays of the above film simultaneously. SOLUTION: The coating composition for protection is used for a coating film of a coating material containing a color-forming precursor with practically no color. The color-forming precursor can adjust a color phase by application of light energy. The coating composition for protection has the light transmission of at least 65% in a wavelength range used for a color phase adjustment before the adjustment and the transmission decreases after the color phase adjustment. Especially the composition is preferred to have the transmission of the wavelength of 360 nm of at least 65% before the above adjustment and of at most 50% after the adjustment.
