摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic thin film wherein functional materials embedded in holes which are two-dimensionally and regularly formed in lattice patterns are regularly arranged in submicron sizes, to provide its forming method, and to provide an optical recording medium using the organic thin film capable of performing recording and reproduction with recording density exceeding a diffraction limit of a pickup lens and having a low error rate and an excellent recording and reproducing signal. <P>SOLUTION: A hydrophobic organic solvent solution of a polymer composed of a polystyrene block polymer (having a volume ratio &ge;90vol% in a copolymer) and the other block polymer which are soluble and insoluble in the hydrophobic solvent, respectively, is cast on a substrate and then a functional material solution is cast on the substrate or the substrate is immersed in the functional material solution. Thereby, the functional materials are embedded in the holes in the lattice patterns to form the organic thin film. The optical recording medium wherein the organic thin film is formed on the substrate as a recording layer is formed. Recording and reproduction are performed by changing optical characteristics of the functional materials by irradiation with light using each hole of the lattice shape formed in the organic thin film as a minimum unit. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
