<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the housing of a light emitting device which can efficiently radiate the light emitted from the light emitting device to the outside, and can radiate light of a wide directional angle to the outside. <P>SOLUTION: The bottom 13 of a concave 12 formed in a package 11 is formed flat, and the light emitting device 16 is placed on the bottom 13. The concave 12 is filled up with a transparent member 18 so that the transparent member 18 may be projecting from the opening of the concave 12. The transparent member 18 contains a first boundary surface 201 in contact with the air which is parallel to the bottom 13, and a second boundary surface 202 which forms a prescribed angle with the bottom 13. Out of the light emitted from the light emitting device 16, light having such an angle that prevents the light from being radiated from the transparent member 18 through the first boundary surface 201 is radiated through the secondary boundary surface 202. By radiating light total-reflected by the first boundary surface through the second boundary surface, an amount of light radiated to the outside can be increased. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
