PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phosphor having high luminance and hardly causing luminance deterioration during PDP drive, and to provide a long-life PDP in which luminance is not deteriorated even after driving for a long time. SOLUTION: This phosphor is an Eu-activated silicate phosphor which has the composition of xCaO-ySrO-zEu(O)-MgO-wSiO<SB>2</SB>, wherein x, y, z and w are defined by the following relations, respectively: 0.700≤x≤0.995, 0.000≤y≤0.295, 0.005≤z≤0.030 and 2.000≤w≤2.400, and wherein the percentage of the divalent Eu atoms in the Eu atoms in the phosphor particles is 50-75% based on the total Eu atoms.
