PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a V-ribbed belt excellent in productivity. SOLUTION: A belt sleeve 1 composed of at least a core wire and a rubber layer is wound around a driving roll 11 and a tension roll 12, and the driving roll 11 is rotated at a predetermined speed for making the belt sleeve 1 travel. A grinding wheel 13 having a plurality of protrusions with V-shaped cross sections on its surface is abutted to the surface of the belt sleeve 1 while being rotated so as to form a plurality of rib parts on the surface of the belt sleeve 1. At this time, a contact surface between the driving roll 11 and the belt sleeve 1 is supplied with water by an atomizer 15. By doing this, slippage between the driving roll 11 and the belt sleeve 1 gets hard to occur even the belt sleeve 1 travels at high speed and the rib parts can be formed in a short period of time.
