PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shock absorbing member superior in shock absorbing performance in spite of its low initial load peak value. SOLUTION: This vehicular shock absorbing member has a collision side front wall 2, a car body side rear wall 3, and three or more side walls 4, 5 and 6 for connecting the collision side front wall 2 and the car body side rear wall 3. Both side end projecting parts 4a and 5a contacting with the car body side by projecting to the car body side from the car body side rear wall 3, are arranged on the car body side of the side walls 4 and 5 of both side ends among the side walls. The shock absorbing performance is enhanced by generating a proper load over a long time when a shock is applied by restraining damaging to the car body side when a large peak load is generated in the initial stage of a shock. A recessed part for displacing the side walls in the specific direction when the shock is applied, may be arranged in a part or the whole among the side walls. The shock absorbing performance is further increased by increasing a load by contact of the mutual side walls by displacing the side walls in the specific direction by the recessed part.
