PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication device for enabling the both parties to securely share a session key by easily specifying the opposite communication party even though the throughput of the communication device is not high. SOLUTION: This communication device comprises an approaching active communicating means 101 for transmitting an enquiry signal to an approaching external communication device through an electromagnetic wave and waiting for a response of the enquiry signal, a wide range communicating means 104 capable of performing communication in a range wider than the communicable range of the approaching active communicating means through an electromagnetic wave, a switching means 106 for making a switch to one communicating means between the approaching active communicating means or the wide range communicating means, and an asymmetrical key generating means 102 for generating a set of encryption keys and decryption keys corresponding to the encryption keys. The decryption keys are used to decrypt an encrypted session key transmitted by the external communication device, and a communication switching request signal for requesting the external communication device to make a switch to the wide range communicating means and perform communication is transmitted to the external communication device.
